Who Needs Carbs

managing an LCHF lifestyle in Israel

Shana Tova 5775

shana tova 5775I’m spending the holiday at my sister’s with my brother-in-law’s family who all have adapted some degree of LCHF. What a pleasure not having to worry about how much sugar is in the salad dressing and if the cake has any flour in it.

So many days*, so many meals … To manage, remember to first put a protein and some fat on your plate and then the vegetables.

“What about dessert?”, you may ask. Personally, I feel that a nice dinner with a lot of good tasty food doesn’t really need a big ending, so a quick non-bake apple crumble could be a good choice:

  1. Cut a few apples, or apples and pears, in cubes.
  2. Sauté the cubes in butter or coconut fat till they are semi-soft (“al dente”).
  3. Chop a handful of nuts.
  4. Place the fruit in small serving glasses and sprinkle the nuts on top. You can also add some cinnamon if you like.

Wishing you a Happy Healthy Shana Tova!

*The Jewish New Year is two days and this year Shabbat extends it by another day.
