Cholesterol Clarity – What the HDL is Wrong with My Numbers?

By Jimmy Moore and Eric C. Westman, MD

cholesterol clarity “Your cholesterol is high and you have to lower it!”

“What? But I’m already avoiding red meat and only eat low-fat products and whole-grain breads. That’s it, medication or I’ll die from a sudden heart attack? And how did that happen, when I eat exactly as I’m supposed to and exercise twice a week? And what is this cholesterol anyway, that will cause my premature death?”

Does the scenario sound familiar to you? We have all learned that cholesterol is bad for us and that we have to avoid it as much as possible. But, cholesterol is actually one of the most important substances in the body and without it we can’t live. Huh? How is that possible? Confusing?

That’s why Jimmy Moore wrote his book “Cholesterol Clarity – What the HDL is Wrong with My Numbers?” – And as it says in the title, clarity is what’s given.

Jimmy Moore interviewed 29 health experts (physicians, researchers, dietitians, and others) and he shares their wisdom with us, in easy laymen words. Together with Dr. Eric C. Westman, Jimmy Moore explains the basics about cholesterol – what it is and why we need it, as well as why most of us definitely should not take cholesterol-lowering drugs and how we, ourselves, can understand all those numbers on our cholesterol test results. To make it even easier, there’s a glossary at the end of the book and there are conversion tables for cholesterol values, to accommodate people in different countries. Not only that, Jimmy Moore lists a bunch of other tests you can ask your physician for, to get a clear picture of your cholesterol and health status.

A good read for anyone who wants to take charge of their own health, and a great gift for your physician or dietitian who might not be updated on the latest research about cholesterol.
