managing an LCHF lifestyle in Israel
(2 April 2011)
“Oh, you’re doing Atkins!” is many times the reaction when I tell about LCHF. And indeed they do have much in common but there are also differences.
“Atkins” is divided into four stages: in the first stage you drastically reduce the amount of carbohydrates and also limit other products like coffee and alcohol. Next, you add some carbs and check the effects on you, and when you get to the desired weight, you add some more carbs and check the balance between the amount of carbohydrates you can eat and still maintain your desirable weight.
On LCHF you reduce the amount of carbohydrates and stay there.
The difference is that in Atkins you burn fat in the two first stages but later return to burn carbohydrates, whereas in LCHF you constantly burn fat.
Another difference is that in Atkins you count calories and in LCHF you eat until satiety. 🙂
