“The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd.”
– Bertrand Russell
Recently I spoke with a guy who read this blog. “Hard to believe” was his spontaneous reaction.
And yes, very hard to believe – and very worrying – doctors, dietitians, and other professionals who are supposed to take care of our health, know so little. (I really don’t want to think about the alternative – that they know and ignore …)
There is nothing new! There are observational studies from almost 150 years ago to the present. There are also current studies, short and long term. And yet … For the last 50 years “low-fat” has become the motto for health, although none has managed to prove it. On the contrary, there are more and more studies who prove the importance of fat for our bodies (e.g. for prevention of Alzheimer.)
But who’s surprised, when a lot of the studies (most of them?) are, directly or indirectly, sponsored by food and pharma companies?
